Angus is a very humble young man for someone with such an incredible running resume. And he hasn’t even been running for that long! It is interesting that many runners such as Angus and George Knight transition from bushwalking backgrounds to trail running so well.

Some of Angus’s achievements include winning the Diverge Skyrun 50km in 2026 and winning the competitive Cradle Mountain Run along the 78km Overland Track in 2025 and 2026. With his time of 7:44 being the third fastest ever.

Angus has also undertaken from pretty impressive adventures including setting the FKT on the Overland Track out and back which is 155km and 4553m of elevation. As well as the FKT on Frenchman’s Cap. Most people do this as a 3-5 day bushwalk. Angus ran it in 5 hours and 47 minutes.

We caught up with Angus to ask him a few questions:

How did you first get into trail running, and what keeps you coming back to it?

I had always been a keen bushwalker and I had a mate who started running so I joined him on a few runs. He wanted to do a big run so I suggested the Overland Track. We did it in just over 15 hours, it was one of the best days out I've had and I haven't really stopped running since.

What's been your proudest running achievement so far, and why does it stand out?

My proudest running moment is probably the Cradle Mountain Run in 2025 it was such a fun day and I'll never forget it.

What races or goals are you targeting over the next 12 months?

I'm doing the Grampians Peak Trail 100 miler in November and the Cradle Mountain Run in February. Maybe some FKT attempts as well.

What advice would you give to someone just starting out in trail running?

I think the most important thing is to enjoy it and get good at falling over.
